With Faithlife Sites, you can choose to maintain your domain with the current provider, or you can choose to use Faithlife to manage your domain records and perform troubleshooting when issues arise. Domain transfers are included in Faithlife Equip and Faithlife Sites Premium subscriptions.
This article will explain how to transfer your domain name to Faithlife so that Faithlife can manage your domain on your behalf.
Note: Transferring a domain can take up to seven days to complete after you've confirmed the domain transfer.

To transfer your domain name to Faithlife, you must:
- Have a Faithlife Sites Premium subscription.
- Know your domain provider login information to complete these steps.
Every domain provider is a little different, and how you carry out each of the following steps will vary a little depending on your specific provider. The following instructions provide an overview of each step and links to support documentation from some of the major web hosts describing how to perform each step on their respective platforms.
Disable WHOIS/domain privacy
If WHOIS or domain privacy is active on your domain, you need to disable it before you can transfer your domain. You can typically do this under the Domains or Contact section in your current hosting services dashboard.

Ensure the admin email address is up-to-date
You may need to confirm your domain transfer via email. Make sure that your current hosting account is connected to an email account you have access to.
Note: Depending on your provider, changing the email address for a domain may lock it for a certain period of time.

Unlock the domain
Domain hosts typically keep your domain locked. This helps keep it secure and prevents unauthorized changes to your domain. In order to have your domain transferred to Faithlife, you need to unlock it.

Get the transfer authorization (EPP) code
The transfer authorization code is a secret key that proves you are the owner of the domain. You need to get this code from your current domain provider and give it to Faithlife. This authorizes your existing provider to transfer the domain to Faithlife.

Initiate transfer in Settings tab
After you’ve completed the steps above:
Go to your new Faithlife Site and click Edit Site.
Open the Settings tab in the left sidebar and scroll down to the Domain section.
- Type your domain name in the domain section of the sidebar. Click Submit Domain, then click I own this domain.
Another dialog box will appear. Click Transfer to continue transferring your domain management to Faithlife.
Provide your organization’s contact information in the appropriate fields, and provide the authorization code you received from your current domain provider.
Click Submit domain.
After you confirm it, the transfer may take up to seven days to complete. You’ll receive an email notification when the transfer is complete.
