If Proclaim has closed abruptly or hangs indefinitely, you may have experienced a crash. Crashes can occur because of an underlying issue with Proclaim, a problem with your system, or a number of other reasons.
If you continue to experience repeated crashes, attempt these solutions or contact support at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 1: Update Proclaim
Proclaim updates often contain fixes to known bugs. If you’re experiencing a crash on an older version of Proclaim, ensure you’re on the latest version of Proclaim.
Proclaim automatically downloads and installs updates. However, if an update has not installed or temporarily got skipped, you can update Proclaim manually.
- Click Help and select About Proclaim.
- Proclaim will show any available updates. Click Download if an update shows as available.
Learn more about updating Proclaim manually.
Note: Unless there was an issue with the initial installation of Proclaim, uninstalling and reinstalling Proclaim is rarely necessary. Updating Proclaim will install a new version, essentially reinstalling.
Step 2: Update your computer software
As we update Proclaim, it’s sometimes necessary to drop support for previous system software.
- View Proclaim system requirements to ensure your current operating system is supported.
- Update your computer to the latest software available.
Step 3: Disable hardware acceleration
On Windows, users occasionally experience problems with videos freezing or with high memory usage. In these cases, disabling hardware acceleration may help.
Warning! Disabling hardware acceleration may decrease the overall performance of Proclaim and should not be done on machines not experiencing this issue.
Step 4: Remove or disable Plays.TV
Windows users, if you are still experiencing crashes and also run the Plays.TV app, disable or remove the app to see if this fixes your problem, as there is a known issue that causes the Plays.TV app to crash Proclaim (and many other programs).
Step 5: Let us know
If Proclaim is still crashing, please contact us so we can fix it. Submitting your Proclaim logs and Windows Event Viewer logs via a bug report is the best way to let us know about a crash, and will include the most technical information relevant to diagnosing the issue. You can also send us an email at email@example.com or call us at 888–634–2038 (US/Canada) or +1 360–450–3542 (International).
