How to Simultaneously Stream to YouTube and Facebook with Faithlife Livestream

With Faithlife Livestream you can simultaneously send your stream to both YouTube and Facebook live while also streaming with Faithlife Livestream.

Once you add your stream key/url from YouTube and/or Facebook in your Faithlife Live Stream settings, whenever you go live with Faithlife Live Stream, you will also automatically go live on YouTube and can click Go Live on Facebook.

1. Set up Faithlife Live Stream

First, set up your stream with Faithlife Live Stream from the Live Stream Settings in the Admin panel of your parent church group.

Continue by setting up a YouTube stream and/or a Facebook Live stream.

2.1 Set Up YouTube Live Stream.

While viewing your Faithlife Live Stream settings, scroll down to the Publishing Sharing section.

2.1.1. Enable YouTube Streaming in the Faithlife Live Stream settings.

Check YouTube Streaming to show the Stream URL and Stream Key input fields, which you will fill with info from YouTube in the next steps.

Note: Leave this page open, as you’ll need to paste in your Stream URL and Key in a moment.

2.1.2. Create a live stream on YouTube Live.

Go to studio.youtube.com and login or create an account with Google.

  • Click Create in the upper right, choose Go live.

  • For minimal future setup, use your channel’s persistent default stream (select Stream on the left). Every time you go live with Faithlife Live stream, this default stream will simultaneously go live.

    Note: If prompted, check, “No, it’s not made for kids.” You can also choose to share your YouTube stream at different privacy levels: Public, Unlisted, or Private. For more help setting up a YouTube live stream, please view YouTube’s support center.

  • Note your stream URL and stream key.

    Important! Your stream key is like a password. Keep it save and never share it publicly or make it visible.

2.1.3. Save your YouTube stream details in Faithlife.

Copy and paste your Stream URL and Stream Key from YouTube in your Faithlife Live Stream settings and click Done.

Note: For security reasons, Faithlife doesn’t display your Stream URL/Key after you save it. To replace a current Stream URL/Key, click Edit Settings under YouTube Streaming in your Faithlife Live Stream settings.

2.2 Set Up Facebook Live Stream.

While viewing your Faithlife Live Stream settings, scroll down to the Publishing Sharing section.

2.2.1. Enable Facebook Streaming in the Faithlife Live Stream settings.

Check Facebook Streaming to show the Stream URL and Stream Key input fields, which you will fill with info from Facebook in the next steps.

2.2.2. Create a live stream on Facebook Live.

Go to facebook.com/live/create and login or create an account with Facebook.

  • Click Create Live Stream.

    Note: For more help, view Facebook Support.

  • Select your church page. Click Post on Timeline in the left-hand column and choose Post to Page you manage. Choose your church page in the list that displays.

  • Click Create New for the Go live card to set up a persistent stream.

  • Select Streaming Software to get a url and key for Faithlife Live Stream.

    Note: Adding a title for your stream is required on Facebook. Additionally, you can adjusting the stream timing add a description for your stream, and more.

  • Note your encoding software details.

    Facebook generates both a Server URL and a Stream Key, which you will need in your live stream settings panel. You may need to expand Advanced Settings to show the Server URL. Check Persistent Stream Key if you want your stream key to be permanent (i.e., if you don’t want to have to configure Faithlife Live Stream with every new stream).

    Important! Your stream key is like a password. Keep it save and never share it publicly or make it visible.

2.2.3. Save your Facebook stream details in Faithlife.

Copy and paste your Stream URL and Stream Key from Facebook in your Faithlife Live Stream settings and click Done.

Note: For security reasons, Faithlife doesn’t display your Stream URL/Key after you save it. To replace a current Stream URL/Key, click Edit Settings under Facebook Streaming in your Faithlife Live Stream settings.

3. Go Live!

Go live with Faithlife Live Stream. Go live in your encoder to start your stream with Faithlife.

  • YouTube will start your stream automatically.
  • Facebook will enabled the Go Live button once your stream is live and sent to Facebook. Click Go Live on Facebook to start the stream on Facebook.
